Because pilgrimage is not so much about ambulating by foot, as about the movement of the soul to encounter Christ ‘buried’ deep in the heart: about passing through the wilderness of one’s own heart, littered as it is with sins, to visit with The One Who made your heart in the first place, and then re-made it, restless, by grace so that it longs to rest in Him.<\/p>\n

In other words, whether one walks sixty-three feet or all sixty-three miles of the pilgrimage, it matters little, so long as it reminds to conduct the important journey, which is interior, to Christ, Our Life’s destination, who lives there as a lonely, voluntary prisoner, until you visit him.<\/p>\n

(The sole advantage of traveling to pilgrimage on the road — and hardly to be underestimated — is that one makes<\/i> or coerces oneself to make the journey. One leaves everything behind to follow Christ, quite literally. ” […] the reign of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent bear it away.” Mt. xi:12)<\/p>\n
