Pilgrims supply their own<\/b> cold meals for three days, including powdered coffee, hot chocolate, tea bags, instant hot breakfast cereal, as well as cups, plates, bowls, spoons et cetera<\/em> at each meal. See Question #8, \u201cWhat food should I bring, and how should I pack it?\u201d, and Question #7, “What gear should I pack, and how should I pack it – and my tent?”.<\/p>\n

Aided in particular by the ever-ready volunteers of the Company of St. Ren\u00e9 Goup\u00eel’s<\/i><\/a> organizers plan for and help pilgrims in many ways every step of the way.<\/p>\n

Organizers supply pilgrims continuously<\/b> with plenty of bottled water throughout, and supplement pilgrims’ meals with hot soup & bread in the evening and hot water & bread with jam at breakfast.<\/p>\n

Organizers also supply portable toilets along the way.<\/p>\n

The Company<\/i> provides some first-aid for foot-sore, blistered pilgrims.<\/p>\n

The volunteers also transport pilgrims’ gear from camp to camp.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

And they shadow the column of walking pilgrims every step of the way, providing rides & rest to the weary.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

They also help to prepare bivouacs along the way. Pilgrims assist one another — helping especially the women & children — to pitch tents.<\/p>\n

They organize and lead pilgrims in ‘brigades’ of 25-35 pilgrims. And assist the sacred Clergy to concentrate on their ministry at holy Altar, to pilgrims in confession, and all along the way.<\/p>\n

This year Friday and Saturday\u2019s privately owned property and campsite are equipped only with running water. Organizers provide portable toilets, make-shift showers and wash basins, with (very) remote electrical supply only.<\/p>\n

Pilgrim families or\/and seniors participating in the “Modified Pilgrimage” may park RVs, campers, or large vans at both private sites Friday, and Saturday.<\/p>\n

On Friday, a free-will donation can be given directly to the property owner or to organizers (for the owner) on location.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, parking RVs, campers or large vans incurs a fee, paid to Pop’s Lake Campground upon arrival.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, to park an RV, camper or other vehicle on the grounds of the destination Shrine overnight, permission in writing must be obtained from the Shrine’s Pilgrimage & Events Coordinator, by writing to beth@ourladyofmartyrssshrine.org.<\/p>\n

Pilgrims wishing to overnight in the local lodgings make their own reservations. See this page<\/a> for a few local options.<\/p>\n
