This year, we will be making pilgrimage in a different region.

New York State has proved impossible to visit, so we will make pilgrimage together in eastern Pennsylvania, to a shrine of Our Lady in Allentown.

The dates of Pilgrimage 2020 remain the same – Friday through Sunday, 25-27 September.

All pilgrims must plan to arrive Thursday in the afternoon or early evening at Allentown, Penna., to be shuttled to step-off location in anticipation of pre-dawn meet-up Friday morning; and, to depart Sunday also from Allentown.Location of parking lot of arrival and departure in Allentown for driving pilgrims to be announced in upcoming blog post/s. Local airport is Lehigh Valley Internat’l (LVI – formerly ABE), and bus terminal is in downtown Allentown.

Many details are already in the works. Look for important announcements to follow on this blog, and on the Pilgrimage’s Facebook pages.

While the familiar ‘pilgrimage routine’ will be changed, in some ways pilgrims can expect that the new unknowns will enhance the ecclesial experience. When medieval pilgrims traveled across continent and ocean to the Holy Land, they often did not know from day to day where or whether they might find shelter, meals, or rest. They had to rely on the guidance and helps of many others — Christ & Christians — along The Way.

In this regard, certainly, attentive pilgrims will likely learn even more this year about trust in God’s will and following it.

Godspeed!
