This post is designed to help pilgrims to choose between two options for overnight accommodations Thursday.
Neither option is covered by the registration fee. (What does the fee cover? See this post.)
This post will also help every pilgrim to complete and submit the required shuttle request form.
Pilgrims have two options for overnight accommodations on day-0, Thursday, September 23.
OPTION 1. — Camp overnight with most pilgrims on the vast campus at St. Mary’s Church in Hamburg, PA.
OPTION 2. — Stay overnight in a local motel or hotel.
OPTION 1. is preferred and strongly recommended to all pilgrims by organizers because St. Mary’s Church campus is the location of check-in (required of all pilgrims) Thursday evening, and of holy Mass and step-off early Friday morning. It therefore requires only one hop, Thursday, with the shuttle, and none Friday morning. It is also economical. Pilgrim-organizers ask pilgrims camping there to offer a free-will donation to the parish upon arrival: suggested minimum donation per pilgrim is $5, or $7 per family.
OPTION 2. in an hotel or motel is preferred especially by seniors. Pilgrims can request the shuttle (provided by pilgrim-organizers) to check-in at St. Mary’s Thursday afternoon, and then to their lodging nearby; and again early Friday morning from the lodging to the step-off location at St. Mary’s.
Pilgrims opting to overnight Thursday at a nearby motel/hotel must reserve a room themselves. The registration fee does not cover hotel or motel accommodations.
