De Maria numquam satis.
The Sacrament of Confirmation in the ritus vetus [ancient rite] — at Pilgrimage 2025!
It is an answer to the prayers of pilgrim-servants who had wished to present Our Blessed Mother a special gift on the 30th anniversary of pilgrimage in her honor.
When ‘Mother of Eleven’ Mrs. Genevieve M. Holmes phoned in January, on the feast of The Epiphany of Our Lord Christ, boldly prompting the Pilgrimage Director to ask Bishop Scharfenberger of Albany to confirm pilgrims in September, the Director felt keenly that his fellow pilgrims had just that moment received the answer we were praying for: a very special gift to Our Blessed Lady on the 30th anniversary of pilgrimage in her honor.
The rest is, as they say, recent history — and lots of it.
The upshot?
His Excellency, Edward Scharfenberger, Bishop of Albany, New York, in a letter dated July 30 has graciously granted to veteran-pilgrim Bishop Joseph L. Coffey the faculty to confer the Sacrament of Confirmation at Pilgrimage 2025, Thursday afternoon, September 25, at the monument to St. Isaac Jogues, on the southernmost shore of the Lake of the Blessed Sacrament in Lake George Village.
Look for details soon to be published in another post, including how to request to schedule Confirmation for children or adults next month in the ritus vetus.
