Ask in her holy Name today, and it will be given you and pilgrim-friends

Church of the Holy Name of Mary, Rome.
Ask a gift of Our Blessed and all-Immaculate Lady, St. Mary the Mother of God, whose feast – her holy Name – we celebrate today, September 12. And her pilgrim-friends (and yours) will be given a deep discount on the registration fee in exchange.

Thanks to your Mother, in other words, you don’t have to miss the pilgrimage because you were ‘a day late and a few dollars short’ (again?) this year.

Besides ‘alms for palms‘ to sponsor you, the organizers’ policy is that no one is turned away from pilgrimage for want of the registration fee.

Not only on September 12, but this year on 11 other special days — only one more remaining — families and groups can still avail of the discounts which expired June 1 when they register together – minimum of three pilgrims.

Which special days?

There are an even dozen before September 28.

Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary – July 2
Our Lady of Mount Carmel – July 16
St. Anne, Mother of the Blessed Virgin Mary – July 26
St. Ignatius of Loyola – July 31
Vigil of the Dormition & Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary – August 14
Feast of the Dormition & Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary – August 15
St. Joachim, Father of the Blessed Virgin Mary – August 16
Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary – August 22
Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary – September 8
St. Peter Claver, SJ – September 9
Feast of the Most Holy Name of Mary – September 12
Feast of the Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary – September 15

Is there anything else one has to do besides register on those days?

Yes.

1. First, you need to register with at least two other pilgrims.
2. Also, the discounted fee must be paid online, via PayPal.

Needed is just a valid credit card to get started.

3. Finally, the registration and the payment must also be postmarked on the day of the feast.

But hurry. The ‘grace period’ ends tonight, September 12, at 23:59 PDT.

Remember, you must register with at least two other pilgrims — friends or family, or fellow students.

No one is turned away for want of a fee.

Having difficulty affording it? See this page to help you find sponsorship. Pilgrims call it alms for palms“. Simply beg fellow Catholics to contribute to your material expenses, like transportation or food. And promise to take their intentions to the destination shrine. You do the penance for them, they receive the graces thanks in part to you.

They can also contribute to your registration fee, from this page.

Not yet sure you can make it, but don’t want to risk losing the discount?

PRE-register today to get the discount — and a jump on preparations until you can make the final decision.

If you’re not yet sure you can make it, you can obtain the day’s discounted rate. In that case, you can pre-register and submit the PRE-fee today ($25 per registrant). Then make final plans with your other pre-registants. Finally, register them by remitting the balance of the discounted fee no later than September 15, via paypal.com payable to “gift@national-coalition.org”.

Can only make it on Sunday, the last day?

Register today for Sunday only. (No fee for Sunday-only.)
